Nikki Sanderson’s ‘lucky’ career

Nikki Sanderson feels "quite lucky" with her post-‘Coronation Street’ career.
The 35-year-old actress – who is now seen on screen as Maxine Kinsella in ‘Hollyoaks’ – spent six years in Weatherfield as hairdresser Candice Stowe and though she admitted there was a period where she was without work, she’s pleased she’s had a variety of different acting jobs.
She said: "I was quite lucky. [After ‘Corrie’], I did some drama, theatre, radio and small parts in films.
"I also did ‘Heartbeat’ and that was so lovely.
"But there was a time when there weren’t any jobs coming in.
"There was an influx of reality programmes and there weren’t many dramas being made."
Nikki will always have fond memories of her time on the cobbles.
Asked if she’s still in touch with the ‘Corrie’ cast, she told new! magazine: "I am. I was there a few months ago and said hello to everyone.
"I’ve got nothing but good things to say about ‘Corrie’.
"It was a massive part of my life, so it’d be weird if I walked away and never thought about it again."
If the star ever walks away from ‘Hollyoaks’, she’s not too fussy about the next job she’d be looking for.
She said: "As long as I’m acting I’m happy.
"I love TV, theatre, film and radio – every type of acting.
"I’m one of those actresses who doesn’t mind looking awful.
"I’m like, ‘Make me look c**p and I’ll go with it.’"
And Nikki would even consider taking part on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
She said of the show: "I’m always up for a challenge.
"The only thing I wouldn’t be great with is creepy crawlies.
"I wouldn’t want to eat something that tastes like arse!
"But it looks like a laugh so never say never."
