Corrie confirm Jennie McAlpine’s return storyline

Coronation Street’s Fiz Stape will return to Weatherfield to find Tyrone Dobbs has made a huge error involving her daughter Hope.
Jennie McAlpine recently returned to filming on the soap after being on maternity leave, and ITV have confirmed her comeback plot will see Fiz turn up at the school for an emergency meeting after Tyrone (Alan Halsall) forgot to enrol Hope for the new term.
With Tyrone trying to convince the Bessie Street head teacher to allow Hope to attend for the start of the academic year, the situation turns chaotic when his grandmother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) rocks up to the school armed with homemade banners to try to plead Hope’s case.
Jennie recently admitted she felt as though she was thrown in at the deep end upon her return to filming, rather than be eased in.
She said: "I’ve got out of the habit of [learning lines], but actually it is just like riding a bike and I kind of just did it.
"They do that to you at ‘Corrie’ – I think they do it on purpose, they’re a bit cruel to be kind – they just threw me right in, day one."
Jennie – who has four-year-old son Albert and nine-month-old daughter Hilda with her husband Chris Farr – previously admitted she was nervous about being back on set, but bosses had reassured her that there wouldn’t be too much pressure.
She said: "It feels a bit like going back to school after the summer holiday, I’ve got butterflies. I’m worried I don’t have enough space left in my brain to learn all my lines. But the producers have promised I’ll be eased in gently.
"It’s probably a good thing Corrie doesn’t have a crèche. I’d always be disappearing from set to see her. We have a great support network around us too, who can help. We’re very lucky."
