Love Island US renewed for 2nd season

‘Love Island US’ has been renewed for a second season.
The new series has become the most-streamed show on CBS in over a year, with millions tuning in to see the goings-on in the villa in Fiji .
Kelly Kahl, the president of CBS Entertainment, said: "The passion of Love Island’s audience is incredible.
"The intensity of their social media engagement has created tremendous enthusiasm for the series here at the Network."
The show follows the exact same format as the original UK version and features Arielle Vandenberg as the host.
Thom Sherman, senior executive vice-president at CBS Entertainment, said: "We love the show’s creative execution and can’t wait for next season. After its first season, the UK version exploded via word of mouth and social media to become a huge hit, and its viewership has grown every year.
"We believe first season US fans are just as passionate and engaged and we look forward to building on that foundation with another fun season next summer."
This popularity of the US version comes after ITV bosses recently confirmed the UK version of ‘Love Island’ will air twice a year from 2020.
Early next year, the ITV2 show will move to a brand new villa in South Africa for a winter sun version of the show, while the summer series will return to Europe later in the year.
Paul Mortimer, head of digital channels and acquisitions at ITV, said: "Off the back of a record-breaking year, we’re delighted to be bringing an extra series of our biggest and sunniest show to the 2020 schedule. ‘Love Island’ has proven yet again to be the perfect format that engages younger audiences. In response to this viewer appetite, a new batch of young singletons will deliver some highly anticipated post-Christmas romance and drama from our new and luxurious location."
