Micky Dumoulin hopes BGT will reunite him with dad

Micky Dumoulin hopes his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ performance will help him reunite with his dad.

The supermarket worker got four big thumbs up from the judges after his emotional performance of ‘Bring Him Home’ from ‘Les Misérables’ on Saturday night (26.04.14), and is hoping the song will encourage his estranged father to get in touch with him.

He told The Sun newspaper: "My dad left home and we aren’t in contact. It’s just one of those things that happens with families.

"He has always known I loved singing and has seen me sing before but he didn’t know I auditioned for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. I hope it’s a nice surprise.

"We haven’t spoken in ages. If he gets in touch it would be nice. I wish him all the best."

The singing hopeful carries his great-grandfather’s handkerchief everywhere with him as a lucky charm, and believes it helped him get through to the next round on the ITV talent show.

He said: "He introduced me to singing and music."

Micky initially auditioned for ‘The X Factor’ in 2008, but didn’t make the cut, and believes he has what it takes to impress judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams this time around.

He said: "I was only 19 when I did ‘X Factor’, I’ve grown up since then. I’ve learned the trade and have more confidence. I chose ‘BGT’ over ‘The Voice’ and ‘X Factor’ this time as it’s the best show in the world."
