Alexandra Hollywood is trying to be an "example" to her son amidst her split from Paul.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ star split from Alex in 2017 when he had an affair and she is refusing to speak bad about the relationship as she doesn’t want to "embarrass" their son Josh or "compromise his trust".
Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, she said: "It’s even more difficult going through it in the public eye, I totally get I was married to somebody who was part of one of the nicest and best shows for years, so I get there’s going to be interest, I get that. My son looks to me to show him how to deal with this, to get through this and I would never do or say anything to compromise his trust or embarrass him, because I know to a certain extent I’m in the public eye because of my association, because of my marriage."
Alex previously admitted she is still grieving the breakdown of their marriage.
She shared: "Well, it is a grieving process, isn’t it. It’s grieving for your marriage. It’s grieving for something that’s dead. Finished. Don’t forget, I was married for nearly 20 years – most of my adult life. I never expected it would end. Who does?"
While Alex was willing to forgive Paul’s first infidelity and tried to save their marriage for the sake of their son, she admitted she could not cope with him cheating for a second time.
She added: "It happened again and it was a done deal, my marriage was over. From the minute I knew, it was over. It is over. There is nothing. It’s such a big thing to comprehend, to end a marriage. But I had to do the right thing, and to have self-respect as well."
