Gemma Oaten helping launch Tutus House homeless enterprise

Gemma Oaten will help launch Tutus House with a ‘Sleep Out For The Homeless’ event.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress – who played Rachel Breckle on the ITV soap from 2011 until her exit in 2015 – has lent her support to the new social enterprise, which is aiming to "organise and fund commercially viable projects to help deal with the issues arising from homelessness and the emotional distress of disruption in an individual’s past".
As part of the organisation’s launch, the Tutus House Leadership Team will be the sleep out event on March 19 at Villiers Street, London WC2.
Thanks to a collaboration with charitable and corporate partners, it’s hoped Tutus will be able to offer free medical services, haircuts, food and clothing to those who need it.
Co-founder James Reid said: "Homelessness shames our society. Britain is the fifth largest economy in the world and we seem unable to take care of our most vulnerable people.
"Tutus House is here to help address that issue. The Tutus House ambition is to be able to offer a place of safety to our homeless and those from disrupted backgrounds, to enable them to gain skills and, ultimately, take the necessary steps back into gainful employment."
In a press release, Tutus House noted: "We aim to give our members practical help in rebuilding their lives. Our specific fund-raising goals are to provide temporary and permanent accommodation as well as commercially viable projects to train and, potentially, employ those who are currently homeless."
