Channel 4 commissions Raised by Wolves

Channel 4 has commissioned a full series of Caitlin Moran’s ‘Raised by Wolves’.

The broadcaster screened a pilot episode of the sitcom in December and has now decided to order six 30-minute episodes of the show, which is based on Caitlin’s own childhood.

Author and columnist Caitlin wrote the episode with her sister Caroline and the show was produced by Big Talk Productions.

Big Talk’s Kenton Allen said in a statement: "Caitlin and Caroline have a truly original comic voice. I’m delighted Channel 4 are giving them the chance to entertain the world with the joys of unconventional life in Wolverhampton."

The sitcom follows the adventures of two young siblings, who are raised by their unconventional mother.

Prolific writer Caitlin celebrated the news on Twitter, enthusing: "So me and @cazmoran are making a whole series of Raised By Wolves! Hurrah (sic)"

She later added: "awww THANK YOU. we’re still punching the air. Been doing it for four hours now. Quite tired. (sic)"

The first episode – which aired on Channel 4 on December 23, 2013 – drew just under 500,000 viewers in its 10:50pm time slot.
