Danny Dyer’s ‘work always comes first’ on EastEnders

Danny Dyer has a "massively personality" on the ‘EastEnders’ set – but his work "always comes first".
That’s according to his co-star Tony Clay, who is "proud" to have been mentored by the Mick Carter actor, but admits the ‘Football Factory’ star cares about his work "a lot" and knows when to have fun and when not to.
When asked if Danny has been a mentor to him on ‘EastEnders’, Tony – who plays Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway on the BBC One soap – exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "He has actually, he really has.
"As have Kellie Bright [Linda Carter], Linda Henry [Shirley Carter], and Luisa Bradshaw-White [Tina Carter].
"People who have been there years know how it works, how it is. It’s just been brilliant – I’m proud to work with all of them.
"Danny has a massive personality, as everyone knows, but the work always comes first.
"He cares about the work a lot and I think that’s important.
"Like everyone does, he knows when to have the fun and when not to."
Tony is also a big supporter of his on-screen brother Ricky Champ, who joined the soap last year as calculated Stuart Highway, and he has praised the former ‘Game of Thrones’ actor for his "incredible" talents.
He added: "Ricky has been amazing since he came in, he’s been unreal. He’s taken to it like a duck to water.
"He’s incredible – he’s a great actor. What he’s done with the character has split the nation.
"He’s just great."
Tony also recently admitted he was looking forward to Kate Oates’ ‘EastEnders’ reign after she joined the BBC as the soap’s senior executive producer.
He added: "Kate is amazing, she’s really lovely. She’s really got a vision and is really behind the show. And you feel it’s going to be great having her there."
Danny recently praised new boss Kate, admitting she "knows her game" and is pointing the programme in the right direction.
He said: "It’s a creative place, it’s a difficult place to work, we’ve had a tough couple of years.
"We’re coming out of the end of it now.
"Kate Oates has come in and she’s great. She knows her game.
"I’m very blessed. I’m earning a living, feeding my kids."
