EastEnders’ Sophia Capasso is a professional hairdresser

‘EastEnders’ actress Sophia Capasso is a professional hairdresser.
The 23-year-old star – who joined the BBC One soap last year – trained as a pro tresses trimmer before turning to acting after her father, who is a barber, taught her his profession when she was at school.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "I’m a professional hairdresser.
"I trained while I was in the sixth form. My dad’s a hairdresser so he taught me.
"I think I’ve kept my hand in, It’s not my main skill, but it’s a handy one to have."
As well as hairdressing, the brunette has always had a creative hand and tried painting and music before she joined a theatre group and found her passion.
She said: "I always knew I wanted to do something creative. I did a lot of painting, so it could have been art of music, as I played the piano, as well as the guitar. And I sang a bit.
"But then I joined a theatre group and I really enjoyed it. The more acting I did, the more I realised it was what I wanted to do. But I still like singing in the shower and in the car."
Sophia says she sometimes gets "dodgy looks" in the street because people associate her with her menacing character Evie Steele, but she sees it as a good thing because it means her acting is convincing.
She said: "I’m pretty sure they hate me. I’ve had some dodgy looks, but I do try to assure people that Evie is just a character.
"If people don’t like her or are scared of her, though, then in a way I’m glad, because it means that I’m doing my job right."
