Justin Bieber’s trial delayed until July

Justin Bieber’s Driving Under the Influence (DUI) trial has been delayed in Miami.

The ‘Confident’ hitmaker was due to appear in court on May 5 to face charges for DUI, resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver’s licence in January, but his lawyers convinced a judge to postpone the case until July 7.

A source also told E! News that the decision was made on Wednesday (23.04.14) at a preliminary hearing and another hearing will take place on June 25 before the trial.

The Canadian star celebrated the news by taking time out of his holiday to pay a surprise visit to an orphanage in Japan with his mother, Pattie Mallette, on Wednesday.

He shared a heart-warming video of himself hanging out with the children there on Instagram, with the caption: "Love these kids!"

His mother also wrote on Twitter: "In Japan and JB just randomly decided to show up at an orphanage and surprise some kids. #SoProud"

But their trip hasn’t been without controversy.

The singer was forced to apologise after he posed for a picture at the controversial Yasakuni shrine in Tokyo, which honours those who died in conflicts spanning from the Boshin War of 1868 to the end of World War II, earlier this week, and admitted he had no idea what the monument stood for.

The ‘Heartbreaker’ singer is trying "to be a better person" and wants to repair his reputation after displaying bad behaviour in recent months.

Another insider recently said: "He’s making more of an effort to hang out with people who are positive influences in his life.

"He has started listening to the people around him and he knows it is not too late to change things. He’s being more selective with his friends. He wants people around him that will help him and guide him and keep him on the right path."
