Cara De La Hoyde went on Love Island to avoid rent

Cara De La Hoyde only went on ‘Love Island’ so she didn’t have to pay rent for six weeks.
The 27-year-old reality TV star – who won the dating show with Nathan Massey in 2016 – admits she appeared on the ITV2 show to avoid forking out on a home and to have a free holiday, and she insists the hit series is now "totally different" because people go onto the show to become famous.
Speaking on radio show ‘Heart Breakfast’, she said: "I don’t really watch anymore if I’m honest because for me it’s a different show. We went on. We had no idea. I just didn’t want to pay rent for six weeks so I was like right, I’ll and sit in the sun.
"Now I think it’s a totally different. I think people are entering for different reasons. It’s a totally different ball game."
The brunette beauty has also given her tips for getting through the audition process, advising wannabees to "just be yourself" because "the public are brutal if you are not yourself".
Despite Cara’s ‘Love Island’ views, she and Nathan have already secured their baby son a spot on the show for when he’s 18.
The couple previously revealed they had asked show bosses if their son Freddie, 13 months, can have a "free pass" onto the programme when he’s an adult as they want him to replicate their success.
The hunk said: "He gets a free pass. We spoke to the producers, and we said, ‘So when he’s 18 is he allowed in?’ and they said: ‘Yep, if we’re still going little Fred gets to go in.’ "
Tune in to Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Lucy, weekdays from 6am – 9am
