Dermot O’Leary not worried about show ratings

Dermot O’Leary doesn’t worry about TV ratings anymore.
The ‘X Factor’ presenter knows around "seven million people" will tune into the singing show, so he doesn’t spend any time concerning himself about viewing figures, especially as people consume the show in so many different ways nowadays.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: "We don’t worry too much about overnight ratings anymore. We try to make a show we enjoy, in the grand scheme of things we know about seven million people will watch it give or take.
"I met one of the researchers’ dads and he was this 65-year-old guy and he said, ‘I watch most of it on YouTube nowadays.’
"That shows how much things have changed.
"In an odd way, I probably enjoy it more as the years go on. I don’t know why, maybe I appreciate it more. It’s probably because I’m more comfortable. "
The 45-year-old TV presenter is to launch his latest project ‘Small Fortune’, a game show which sees contestant’s complete challenges involving tiny replicas of iconic landmarks and places, such as Las Vegas and Westminster, and Dermot isn’t overly concerned about the show being a success or not.
He said: "There are always nerves when you do something new. You can’t bottle the recipe for success. But at the same time, I can’t not do a new show because I’m worried it won’t succeed.
"If I was like that I’d never do anything, you have to believe in something new. Whether it succeeds or not who knows? But I think it’s got a good shot of doing well."
