Ruth Langsford shocked by tea outcry

Ruth Langsford was stunned she sparked a debate on how to correctly make a cup of tea.
The 58-year-old presenter provoked an outcry on social media after the new Sunday episode of ‘This Morning’ because she added the milk to her cup before the tea but she didn’t realise she was doing anything out of the ordinary.
However, Ruth confessed the order she adds the vital ingredients to her mug change depending on her brewing method.
Asked if the controversy caught her by surprise, she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It did a bit, because I’ve never really thought about it!
"I always put my milk in first if I got tea in a teapot, I’ve never really thought about it but when all that debate happened on social media I realised if I make tea in a mug with a tea bag I put the milk in afterwards, but when it’s in a teapot I always put the milk in first. Don’t ask me why, that’s how I roll."
Ruth is presenting the new Sunday ‘This Morning’ show – which features the best bits from the midweek episodes – with her husband Eamonn Holmes and she thinks it’s a "really nice" job to have landed.
Speaking on the red carpet at the National Television Awards (NTAs) at London’s The O2 on Tuesday (22.01.19) evening, she said: "It’s a highlight show of all the best bits of the week and so many people I know can’t always watch ‘This Morning’ live as they are at work so to have all the highlights of the week is a really nice show to do."
Both ‘This Morning’ and ‘Loose Women’ were nominated for the Daytime show award at last night’s ceremony – with the former ultimately scooping it for the ninth year in a row – and because Ruth works on both, she refused to choose which one she’d prefer to win.
Asked ahead of the ceremony which she’d root for more, she said: "Well I’m not going to tell you that! It’s like asking me which one of my children I love the most! And you say ‘I love them all the same’ which I do, I genuinely do!
"I think they are both fantastic shows. I’m very proud to be involved with both of them."
