Lettice Rowbotham’s BGT audition inspired by sister

Lettice Rowbotham only decided to audition on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ after being persuaded to be her younger sister.

The classically trained violinist says it felt like a "dream" when she was put through to the next round of the talent show on Saturday night (19.04.14) by judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams, with the comic describing her as "the poshest contestant we’ve ever had on the show".

During an interview on ‘This Morning’, Lettice said: "I am still in shock, I still think I am in a dream, all my friends messaging in, and all these amazing people.

"It’s actually quite a nerve-racking ordeal, it’s a big thing to do, and I think I was quite happy toddling along doing gigs here and there, but my little sister was desperate for me to do it – we love the show."

The 24-year-old beauty has already had a successful career as a professional musician, with highlights including performing at the wedding of Russian President Vladmir Putin’s daughter and working with ‘X Factor’ stars Olly Murs and Matt Cardle.

However, Lettice insists it has taken her years of hard work and practice to make a living from her passion for music and she is now hoping ‘BGT’ can take her career to the next level.

Lettice explained: "It does sound amazing, but those are just the best bits of 20 long years working very hard. There are very long days of gigs and travelling. Travelling sounds glamorous but it’s not, when you’re on an aeroplane for 20 hours and you have to sound check at three in the morning."
