Britain’s Prince William was gifted a hunting spear during his trip to Australia today (22.04.14).
The 31-year-old royal, who is the midst of a whirlwind royal tour Down Under with his wife Duchess Catherine, was presented with the traditional hunting tool while visiting the National Indigenous Training Centre in Yulara, close to Uluru – the sacred tourist destination.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, William was "impressed" with the barbed mulga wood spear – which is bound in kangaroo tendons – and asked about its origins.
William and Catherine, 32, presented certificates to graduates of the training centre and were adorned with a slew of gifts including the hunting spear.
39-year-old Emma Haskins and her four-year-old daughter Amelia travelled five hours to meet the royals and couldn’t help but gush over their nine-month-old son, Prince George, who didn’t accompany them on the trip to Uluru.
Emma said: "It’s been planned since March – as soon as we found out she was coming we did it.
"It was so exciting – I was lost for words."
According to Emma, Catherine said she missed George and told her daughter she looked "beautiful".
