Jodie Comer loved Killing Eve’s gruesome deaths

Jodie Comer thinks ‘Killing Eve’ hit the right note with its "gruesome" deaths.
The 25-year-old actress played killer Villanelle in the BBC crime drama opposite Sandra Oh as MI5 detective Eve Polastri, and she has heaped praise on the way the hugely popular show portrayed its more violent moments.
She told The Guardian newspaper: "What I loved about the violence in the show was that a lot of it was suggested to you; you didn’t see it.
"Some of it was gruesome. There was a lot of humour in it, or artistry. I don’t know if this is the Villanelle in me, defending what she does."
Jodie also pointed to the way the show made sure to be more creative with such scenes, rather than keeping it too blunt and simple.
She explained: "There was always something creative about it. She thrives off what she does, she cares about what she does, so it made sense to me that she would care about the detail."
After the first season’s huge success, attention is now turning to a second series, and Jodie has hinted that viewers will find out more about her mysterious character.
She teased: "People’s questions about Villanelle are always: does she have emotions; does she have morals?
"You know, we have these glimpses of her maybe feeling something, but what is it? What is it that we don’t know?
"That’s definitely something that we’ve explored in series two, whether she is battling with her conscience – what’s under there?"
Meanwhile, Jodie previously revealed that doing "silly things" while filming helped her to become less insecure as the quirky killer.
She said: "I can be very self-conscious and I learned to drop that. If there was something silly I did in a scene, I’d be caring too much about what other people thought. The longer we went on the more free I felt."
