Antony Cotton teases ‘very big’ Coronation Street new year plot

‘Coronation Street’ bosses have contacted cast members to see if anyone has "concerns" about a huge new year storyline.
Antony Cotton has teased fans they can expect a "very big" plot involving multiple characters as Weatherfield sees in 2019, but he has remained coy on the exact details about the hard-hitting scenes.
Speaking at The Sun’s Military Awards at London’s Banqueting House on Thursday night (13.12.18), he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "We’ve had a good year, we’ve got lots coming up, we are about to start filming a very big storyline in the new year, lots of us are involved.
"I’ve had an email today about something I can’t talk about, about if anybody has concerns with certain things that might happen then we need to talk about them now, that’s starting as soon as we get back."
Antony – who plays Sean Tully on the ITV soap – is no stranger to big plots having played out a storyline earlier this year in which his character became homeless, and he is shocked at just how many ex-military personnel are on the streets.
He added: "I was very proud to play that storyline out. I work a lot with the military and have done for the past 10 years.
"One in for four homeless people are veterans, which is kind of extraordinary statistic. One in four homelessness people on the street at some point have served their country, which I think is an atrocious statistic.
"I took that storyline very seriously and I was thrilled to be part of it, I loved that storyline, loved it."
Antony has played Sean for the past 15 years, and he "cannot believe" he has been a Weatherfield resident for so long.
He said: "I was a fan of ‘Coronation Street’ all my life and so I’m thrilled that in some transient universe that I live on Coronation Street.
"I’ve been there 15 years, seems a lot longer for some people but for me it’s gone like that and I can’t believe it’s been that long.
"So for me that means if it’s gone so quickly that means you are enjoying it, and it’s where you want to be."
