Casualty hires hawk to scare off noisy seagulls

‘Casualty’ has hired a hawk to scare off noisy seagulls who keep ruining filming.
Bosses at the BBC hospital drama have had to take action after pesky birds disrupted outdoor shoots, so they decided to draft in a bird of prey called Titan to keep the feathery fiends under control.
George Rainsford – who plays Ethan Hardy on the show – tweeted: "Do you know how we keep our noisy Cardiff seagulls away for filming outside Holby ED?
"We call in the muscle, that’s how. In the form of the very handsome Titan the Harris hawk. (sic)"
The hawk helper will no doubt be hoping he can contribute to Casualty’s success after the BBC medical programme won the Soap & Continuing Drama TV BAFTA at the Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards in May.
Speaking to the audience, George said: "’Casualty’ has been around for 30 years. It keeps challenging itself. It keeps challenging the viewers and producing big stories that people can hopefully relate to.
"It keeps championing the NHS. I’m genuinely speechless as I didn’t think we’d be here to accept this award."
Despite missing out on the accolade, ‘Emmerdale’ star Danny Miller – who plays Aaron Dingle in the ITV soap – insisted ‘Casualty’ were "well deserved" winners.
In response to an article about fans being surprised with the medical drama’s victory, he tweeted: "Shocked?! Each show nominated tonight could’ve and more so, deserved to win it. Bravo @BBCCasualty WELL deserved! (sic)"
The ‘Casualty’ team seemed surprised at the time, with some of them thinking ‘Emmerdale’ or ‘Hollyoaks’ would get the nod.
Oliver Kent, head of continuing drama, admitted: "I thought it was going to be ‘Hollyoaks’, and deservedly so because we’re in amazing company.
"We were all backing different horses but none of us were backing ‘Casualty.’ "
