Beverley Callard lands Rocky Horror Show role

Beverley Callard has landed a role in ‘The Rocky Horror Show’.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who plays Liz McDonald in the ITV soap – has taken to Twitter to tell her fans about the project, admitting she is feeling "excited" but also "a little terrified" about the upcoming part at Manchester’s Opera House in January.
She tweeted: "Hi all seems like a great day to let you know, I’m so excited and maybe a little terrified to be performing in "The Rocky Horror Show" at the Opera House Manchester. Jan 9-26. Can’t wait!!! Come and see us! X (sic)"
Bev is set to be the narrator in the latest incarnation of Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical, which will see ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Joanne Clifton star as Janet, and Ben Adams will take on the role of Brad.
Stephen Webb is to portray Frank in the musical, and Kristian Lavercombe will reprise his role as Riff Raff.
The ‘Rocky Horror Show’ tells the story of engaged couple Brad and Janet whose car breaks down outside a spooky mansion and they are introduced to Dr. Frank N. Furter.
Beverley is one of many soap stars who have taken up musical roles of late.
Former ‘Coronation Street’ star Paul Lane is starring in West End musical ‘Kinky Boots’, and outgoing ‘EastEnders’ actress Bonnie Langford is portraying Dorothy Brock in ’42nd Street’.
Speaking about a potential return to Albert Square further down the line, she recently said: "It’s the polar opposite, this is just utter joy. And yet, being in ‘EastEnders’ was wonderfully challenging.
"The door is open."
