Coronation Street is deadliest place to live in the world

Coronation Street’s Weatherfield is the deadliest place to live in the world.
If the ITV soap’s fictional Manchester-based town was a real place then people would be four times more likely to be killed there than they would in Mexico’s Los Cabos – which has the highest murder rate in the world – after 181 ‘Corrie’ characters were bumped off.
A spokesman for Verve Search, who compiled the data for Buzz Bingo, told The Sun newspaper: "Los Cabos (Mexico) has the highest murder rate, yet looking at murders per 1,000 people, you are four times more likely to be assassinated in Weatherfield."
‘Corrie’ is also said to be the deadliest soap after 32 of the 181 were murdered, compared to 28 murders in ‘EastEnders’ and 27 in ‘Emmerdale’.
The spokesman added: "We also found that compared with other top British soaps, Weatherfield is where you’re most likely to meet a grizzly end as a result of an unfortunate accident."
What’s more, Weatherfield is not the place to live if you have a family history of heart issues, after 38 characters died of heart attacks.
Eight have suffered bizarre deaths, and 18 met their makers due to accidents, while the remaining largely died of natural causes or illnesses.
Just this month, there was another ‘Corrie’ death when Doctor Ali Neeson (James Burrows) pulled a wooden stake out of evil drug dealer Ronan Truman’s (Alan McKenna) chest after he crashed his car.
‘Corrie’ won big at the Inside Soap Awards earlier this week, partly thanks to the dramatic culmination of serial killer Pat Phelan’s (Connor McIntyre) reign of terror this year.
He had previously bumped off Vinny Ashford (Ian Kelsey), Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth), and Luke Britton (Dean Fagan), and watched on as Michael Rodwell (Less Dennis) died from a heart attack – but got his comeuppance when Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) stabbed him to death.
Connor clinched the Best Bad Boy prize at the ceremony, and admitted he is grateful to be up there in cobbles folklore as one of the show’s most notorious villains.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I think it’s been Coronation Street’s year.
"As great as the other shows have been, ‘Coronation Street’ have really smashed it this year.
"I’ve nothing but gratitude. I came for three episodes and here we are all this time later.
"Now, no matter what, I’m one of those ‘Corrie’ villains."
