Olly Murs always wanted to be on The Voice

Olly Murs "always wanted" to be on ‘The Voice’.
The 34-year-old pop star has revealed he’s been inundated with various offers to join other talent shows, and though he said he’d like to go back on ‘The X Factor’ as a judge, he’s loving life in his swinging chair coaching on the rival show too much to want to head anywhere else at the moment.
The ‘Wrapped Up’ singer – who will be joined on the panel by Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am when the show returns in 2019 – told RadioTimes: "I made no secret about wanting to do it (‘The X Factor’) again.
"I had loads of offers of different things. But ‘The Voice’ was always the one that I wanted. I love the show very much. It’s fantastic and it’s great to be here."
The ‘Moves’ hitmaker – who was a runner-up on ‘The X Factor’ in 2009 – says ‘The Voice’ and ‘The X Factor’ offer a different viewing experience altogether.
Asked how they challenge one another, he said: "It’s a tough question.
"They’re just different shows. We do blind auditions. We’re coaches, they’re judges. We do blind auditions they do open auditions. They speak to the contestants, we don’t. We do the battle rounds, they don’t. We’re just very different."
Olly recently admitted he went to therapy over his ‘X Factor’ blunder.
The talent show star made headlines in 2015 when he accidentally mixed up the judges’ scores and made a premature announcement that Monica Michael was being sent home.
Although he "laughed off" the mistake at first, he admitted: "The papers didn’t laugh it off – they made a massive deal about it. The media attention, and the social media aspect, upset me the most.
"They really tried to take me to the cleaners. They tried to make me lose my job over a silly, small mistake.
"And when I went back to singing, it made me overthink what I was doing: ‘I’m going to forget the lyrics, what I’m doing … So that was something I needed to speak to a therapist about.
"And I’m not scared to admit that – that’s the stigma that men have."
Earlier this year, Olly admitted the mishap still bothers him.
He previously said: "Making that mistake always annoys me."
