Former X Factor star Lauren Murray ready to hijack Radio 1 for her music

Former ‘X Factor’ star Lauren Murray is prepared to hijack BBC Radio 1 to get the chance to sing in the studio.
The 29-year-old singer was one of the stand out acts on the 2015 series of Simon Cowell’s ITV talent show and she has just released her debut EP ‘Worth It’, comprised of five tracks including the title track and the R&B tinged ‘No More’, and she is desperate to get her new music on the airwaves of the UK’s flagship radio station.
Lauren is prepared to storm the offices of the station to demand to sing in the live lounge on either Greg James’ ‘Breakfast Show’ or the afternoon programme that is fronted by Nick Grimshaw – who acted as a judge and the mentor to the Boys category on her series of ‘The X Factor’.
Speaking about what she is prepared to do to share her music with the UK, Lauren – who was mentored by Rita Ora and eliminated in week six of the competition – cheekily said: "I need to go up to the Radio 1 studio and just stay there and be like, ‘Greg, please let me do just one song and I’ll prove to you that I can do this.’ I might need to go back to Nick Grimshaw, get Grimmy to get me on his afternoon show … I’m prepared to do anything … My dream is to get an album out and go top 10, that’s the dream, that’s the goal, but it just takes time to get there, but the EP and everything I’ve done is all leading up to that. I’m so determined, despite how long it has taken me, there’s no going back for me. You’ve got to have patience and determination, that’s what you need."
As well as working towards an LP, Lauren wants to collaborate with either Clean Bandit or Naughty Boy on a single because she believes that her voice would be perfect on their records.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I would love to do a collaboration, but it is difficult. A collaboration with Clean Bandit or Naughty Boy would be amazing, that could be the breaking point for me."
Lauren has had a wonderful response to her EP from her followers on her social media accounts and she loves to read all the messages she gets from her fans because it gives her a huge confidence boost and she is very grateful to all the people that have stuck with her since she was a contestant on ‘The X Factor’ three years ago.
She said: "It was three years ago, time just zips by, and it’s mad that people still remember it. Social media is the best way to connect with your fans, I get so many messages from people on a regular basis and I can’t always respond to all of them because there are so many, but the ones I do get are always so positive and the main thing for me is that I know my fans are connecting with what I’m doing. The best way to get through to your fans is through social media.
"It took me a while to find my direction but I think I’ve finally found that now. I wanted to keep the sound really current too. The vibe on the song ‘Worth It’ that I was going for was like a Sam Smith and Emeli Sande kind of vibe, stripped back and all about the voice. I felt like I needed a song that was just about the vocals because I felt when I was on ‘The X Factor’ that’s what I was, kind of, know for, so I needed to find a song like that to show people I haven’t gone anywhere."
Lauren’s EP ‘Worth It’ is available now on all major streaming and download platforms.
