Amy Winehouse biopic confirmed

Amy Winehouse’s family have confirmed the late star’s life will be documented in a forthcoming biopic.
The ‘Rehab’ hitmaker’s estate have inked a mega money deal to bring the tragic story of the British singer’s rise to stardom to the big screen, and they are on the look out for an English actress, who looks just like Amy – who passed away aged just 27 from alcohol poisoning in 2011 – to play her.
Speaking about the movie, which is being produced by Alison Owen – whose credits include ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Tulip Fever’ – the ‘Back to Black’ singer’s father Mitch told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: "We have been approached many times.
"It’s obviously something that we are going to do, 100 per cent. What we want is somebody to portray Amy in the way that she was … the funny, brilliant, charming and horrible person that she was.
"There’s no point really me making the film because I’m her dad. But to get the right people to do it, that’s very important, and we will."
The 68-year-old Jazz singer explained that he would only want a British actress to take on the part of his beloved daughter, and said someone like Lady Gaga – who recently put on an Oscar-worthy performance in ‘A Star Is Born’ – wouldn’t be suitable for the job because he doesn’t think she’d be able to pick up the London, Cockney accent.
He added: "It wouldn’t be Lady Gaga. She doesn’t speak our kind of English.
"I wouldn’t mind betting it would be an unknown, young, English — London, Cockney — actress who looks a bit like Amy."
The family have signed to Alison’s Monumental Pictures and the biopic is scheduled to commence shooting in 2019.
The movie deal comes after the family announced the ‘Valerie’ singer will tour the world as a hologram.
Amy’s estate have teamed up with the BASE Hologram company to create a virtual likeness of the star, which will go out on the road with a live band and backing singers to perform "digitally remastered" versions of her classic hits.
Mitch said: "This is a dream for us. To see her perform again is something special that really can’t be put into words.
"Our daughter’s music touched the lives of millions of people and it means everything that her legacy will continue in this innovative and groundbreaking way."
Proceeds for the tour, which is expected to begin in autumn 2019, will go towards the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
BASE CEO of productions, Marty Tudor, is "proud" the tour will help others, as well as offering fans the chance to experience her "amazing" voice again.
Marty said: "Amy was an extraordinary individual who had an unbelievable passion for both her music and her fans.
"This tour will tap into that devotion and remind people of her amazing voice and all of her contributions to the world of music. In addition, we are proud to be a part of contributing to the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Amy’s legacy of commitment to others in need."
BASE Hologram have also orchestrated two other major tours, one featuring Roy Orbison and the other Maria Callas.
