Joanna Lumley wants to be an ‘old woman’

Joanna Lumley plans to live to be a "very very old woman".
The 72-year-old actress has shunned the idea of there being a stigma around ageing, as she says she loves getting older and wants to live into her 90s because she’s "had a good time" as an older woman so far.
She said: "I’ve had a good time as an old woman and I plan to be a very, very old woman."
In 2015, the ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress admitted than when she was 18 she had dreamed of being 30, and she now says she’s moved the scale forward as at 72, she’s dreaming of being 90.
She added: "I’ve pitched it forward to 90 now. I want to be 90."
Joanna thinks people are "only as old as [they] feel", and says that whilst she might not look as youthful as she did in her 20s, she’s a lot wiser now.
Speaking during an appearance on ‘The Project’ on Friday (05.10.18), she said: "So I’m 72 now … pauses for applause and gasps … and the truth is that I think … this corny old thing that you’re only as old as you feel.
‘If you just keep going, you’ve got to try to forget about what you look like because you do begin to rot away. But in here [her head], you get to know a bit more."
The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ actress has always had a fascination with ageing, and prior to turning 70, she revealed she was "so excited" to reach a new decade of her life.
She said in 2015: "I’ve always wanted to be old. When I was 10, I wanted to be 18. When I was 18, I wanted to be 30.
"I love old. I love old people and I always knew old would be good for me and would contain great glories."
