Kaley Cuoco to star as Harley Quinn in new animated series

Kaley Cuoco has been cast as Harley Quinn in a new animated series for DC Universe.
The 32-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Penny on the popular sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory’ – is set to star in and executive produce the new show, which is to be broadcast on the new subscription streaming platform launched by DC Comics.
Kaley will appear on the show alongside the likes of Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, JB Smoove, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes and Giancarlo Esposito.
The American actress – whose character is played by Margot Robbie on the big screen – is also set produce the project alongside Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey.
The makers of the show are yet to announce a premiere date for the series, though.
Confirmation of Kaley’s casting comes shortly after the actress admitted she would have "done 20 more years" of ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
CBS announced earlier this year that the US sitcom would conclude for good after the 12th season and Kaley – who has played Penny since the show began in 2007 – confessed she was left heartbroken when she heard the programme was ending.
She said: "It’s broken my heart. I am so sad that it’s ending. For the record, I would have done 20 more years."
‘The Big Bang Theory’ is the longest-running multi-camera series in US TV history, but co-creator Bill Prady recently admitted the writers hadn’t made any big plans for the end of the saga.
He said: "We’re approaching the final season the same way we’ve approached the 11 seasons before: with no planning whatsoever. From day one, we have never planned an arch for a season. We don’t plan ahead, we just kind of just tell the next story."
