Julia Roberts dropped a "pant size" whilst filming ‘Homecoming’.
The 50-year-old actress found her role as Heidi Bergman in the new Amazon Prime Original thriller required a lot of "cardio acting" and multi-tasking that made her lose weight without even trying.
Julia told BANG Showbiz: "Yes it’s called cardio acting and you carry a ton of stuff, talk on the phone, be in heels and be up and down the stairs all day. I went down a pant size which is true!
The series director, Sam Esmail, added: "It is true!"
‘Homecoming’ is based on Eli Horowitz, and Micah Bloomberg’s popular serialised audio podcast and stars Julia as a small-town waitress, Heidi, who left her previous employment as a caseworker at a titular agency which helps soldiers rejoin civilian life.
The Academy Award-winning actress confessed her "love" for thrillers and admitted she is a "huge sucker" for plot twists in the genre, even when it’s something she already knows is going to happen.
She said: "I love that genre, we were talking before about parallax view, just movies like that. I’ve been lucky to be in some thriller genres, ‘The Pelican Brief’ and ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ – those cupboards I mean that was something!
"So I do love stuff like that and I fall for it even when I know what’s going to happen, I’m still like ‘Oh my god the towels’ so I’m a good sucker for those kinds of movies and I love the jagged edge, so I love that genre."
Julia – who has three children, 13-year-old twins Phinnaeus and Hazel, and Henry, 11, with her cinematographer husband Daniel Moder – was attracted to the Amazon prime series because of the character’s circumstances, rather than Heidi herself.
She explained: "Well interestingly this is a character that I picked because of the circumstances that surround her. I can’t isolate her in any way, the way I sometimes can on other pieces of material where you can kind of imagine, ‘OK well, what if we put her in this scenario’ so we can understand her more fully.
"For Heidi, she’s so intertwined with everything that’s going on around her and Sam just turned it into this incredible… I mean I have never come to work and walked on to a set and just thought: ‘wow this is incredible, this is amazing.’"
‘Homecoming’ also stars Bobby Cannavale, Stephan James, and Jeremy Allen White.
The show will be available to stream on Amazon Prime from 2 November.
