Overtones’ Timmy Matley died in balcony fall after taking crystal meth

The Overtones star Timmy Matley died after falling from a balcony whilst he was high on crystal meth.
The singer – who had been treated for skin cancer – passed away at the age of 36 as he plunged to the floor whilst trying to climb down from a 13th floor balcony from a luxury flat in Poplar, east London, at 11am on April 9, 2018.
The cause of death was confirmed as a "drug related" accident at Poplar Coroner’s Court on Wednesday (03.10.18) following a hearing last month which heard he arrived at a friend’s flat "intoxicated with crystal meth" and found himself locked out on the balcony.
The Overtones – Lachie Chapman, Mike Crawshaw, Mark Franks and Darren Everest – released a statement to BANG Showbiz paying tribute to their late friend in the wake of the ruling, which read: "We will not be making any comment other than to say that Timmy, our funny, talented, beautiful friend, bandmate and brother, was dearly loved and he is deeply missed."
Previously, Timmy had to pull out of the band’s 2016 Christmas tour after he was diagnosed with stage three melanoma.
He started immunotherapy treatment in March 2017 and had "responded amazingly" to it.
The Overtones have stayed together in the wake of Timmy’s death and are set to release their new self-titled album on October 19.
The LP is a mix of covers and original material and has been recorded with producer Julian Hinton and engineer Simon Bloor as a tribute to Timmy and a celebration of everything that the group has achieved together.
The album will also include some of Timmy’s vocals recorded before his death.
