Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer tops Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard

Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer topped the leaderboard as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returned to screens on Saturday (22.09.18).
The former Pussycat Dolls star and the Steps singer each scored an impressive 29 out of a possible 40. Ashley danced a Viennese Waltz with Pasha Kovalev to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ whilst Faye and her partner Giovanni Pernice impressed with a Cha Cha Cha to Sigala and Paloma Faith’s ‘Lullaby’.
Head judge Shirley Ballas said it was "clean" and very musical whilst Darcey Bussell labelled it as the "perfect way to finish the night".
Elsewhere, Danny John Jules and Amy Dowden – who opened the show with a Foxtrot to the Top Cat Theme – impressed with their pizzazz and showmanship, earning them a solid mark of 27. Dr Ranj Singh and Janette Manrara’s Cha Cha Cha to ‘How Will I Know’ by Whitney Houston and Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell’s Jive to ‘Take On Me’ also secured them joint third place on the leaderboard.
Fresh from securing double World Champion, paralympian Lauren Steadman pulled off a stunning waltz with AJ Pritchard to ‘I’m Kissing You’ and they even managed to impress tough judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Meanwhile, at the bottom of he leaderboard was Susannah Constantine and Anton Du Beke, who danced the Samba to ‘Tico Tico’ by Carmen Miranda. Whilst she managed a score of just 12, Shirley felt there was promise there with Susannah whilst Bruno Tonioli said it was more of a "car crash Miranda" than Carmen Miranda.
Whilst no one will exit the show during this week, the scores from Saturday will be carried over to next week, where one celebrity will be booted from the competition.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues on Saturday September 29 on BBC One.
