Ed Sheeran announces homecoming shows

Ed Sheeran has announced homecoming shows in Suffolk and Leeds.
The 27-year-old star grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk, and currently resides in a small village with his fiancée Cherry Seaborn in the county, and now he’s set to play his first concert there since 2014 – when the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker performed at The Steamboat pub in Ipswich.
The flame-haired singer/songwriter will headline two shows at Ipswich’s Chantry Park on August 23 and August 24, 2019.
Though Ed grew up in Suffolk, Ed was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, and he’s also going to perform at Roundhay Park on August 16 and August 17.
If Ed feels like he’s missing out on anything when playing in Suffolk, the ‘Perfect’ singer – who penned the hit song ‘Castle on the Hill’ about speeding down a country lane in Suffolk – can always pop back to his nearby pad, which comes complete with his own pub in a barn.
Speaking previously about his passion project, he said: "Yeah it’s getting there I’ve built a pub. Like I had a bar before, a bar where you could pour beers but now this has like a selection of beers which is cool.
"So basically there’s an underground tunnel to get there that you can close off. So if I have a party everyone goes in the pub and no one can get in the house so you get no one, raiding the cupboards or smashing anything. You have to go underground to get to the pub."
Ed is also set to perform in London on November 15, 2018, at the BBC Radio Theatre for the ‘Radio 2 In Concert’ series – along with the likes of Paul Weller, Sir Cliff Richard, Emeli Sande and Boy George and Culture Club – and he’s promised fans lucky enough to bag tickets to the intimate live broadcast gig that he’ll be performing all of his hits.
He said: "I think the best thing to do at those sort of gigs is to play the songs people want to hear.
"That’s the kind of key thing as an entertainer, to entertain people, so I think I’m just going to play songs that people like."
Tickets for the 2019 shows go on sale 27 September.

Applications open at 8pm on September 19 and close at 8pm on October 1.
