Margot Robbie joins WW2 thriller Ruin

Margot Robbie is being lined up to star in the World War II thriller ‘Ruin’.
The 28-year-old actress will lead the cast alongside Matthias Schoenaerts after ‘Assassin’s Creed’ director Justin Kurzel – who has been out of the limelight for a few years – spent the best part of last year trying to figure out his ideal cast.
It’s believed Kurzel was initially looking at Gal Gadot playing the lead following her successful portrayal of Wonder Woman last year, but her busy schedule meant she was pulled out of the running and Robbie was pushed to the front.
It’s not yet known who else is part of the line-up, but it’s believed the cameras will start rolling next Spring in Prague after Kurzel locked in his two leading stars.
The movie, which has been written by Ryan and Matt Firpo, will follow the story of a holocaust survivor (Robbie), who seeks revenge on the troops who killed her family, but lands herself in a sticky situation when she builds an unlikely alliance – and possible romance – with a former Nazi captain (Schoenaerts).
The pair travel the ruins of post-World War II Germany as the Nazi captain attempts to make amends for his crimes by hunting down the members of the SS Death Squad that once worked under him, according to Empire magazine.
Meanwhile, Robbie is currently working on Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ and will next be seen in ‘Mary Queen Of Scots’ in January.
And, although she’s still taking on movie roles, Robbie recently admitted that she feels more emotionally invested in a film when she’s producing the project after she served as a producer on her new movie ‘Terminal’.
Asked whether producing complements acting or whether it gives her something acting doesn’t, the Australian actress replied: "It actually works hand in hand with acting. I assumed it would be more of a conflict of interests, trying to split myself between the two roles. But actually, I feel like it made me better at each job, being so involved. And actually it does give me something I don’t get just from acting … you know, feeling like, ‘Oh, that’s our project.’ "
