Emmett J. Scanlan rejected from Hollyoaks 3 times

Emmett J. Scanlan was rejected from ‘Hollyoaks’ three times.
The 39-year-old actor was turned down by the Channel 4 soap’s bosses on a hat-trick of occasions until he was eventually offered the role of Brendan Brady, who he played from 2010 to 2013.
He wrote on Twitter: "I got rejected from Hollyoaks 3 times before being offered Brendan Brady. The rest as they say, is history. #ShareYourRejections (sic)"
Emmett’s wife and former ‘Hollyoaks’ co-star Claire Cooper (Jacqui McQueen) wrote: "But didn’t I ask for u twice ??? Didn’t I … instead I married you (sic)"
Following Emmett’s tweet, several ‘Hollyoaks’ fans have called for Brendan to return to the fictional village.
One wrote: "It was worth the wait – the best bad guy to appear in @Hollyoaks Bring Brendan back!! (sic)"
Another tweeted: "I hope #hollyoaks writers read this & think it’s a good idea he’d be bigger & badder than before! Then maybe Ste can have his happy ending with Brendan & James can have Harry & Glenn dead! Sorted xx (sic)"
Since departing ‘Oaks’ five years ago when Brendan was put in prison, Emmett has starred in drama series ‘The Fall’ and recent Netflix drama ‘Safe’, as well as blockbuster movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
While he worked so hard to land a role in ‘Hollyoaks’, Emmett recently admitted he wanted his character to be killed off.
He said: "There’s only so long you can stay there and then you run the risk of running the same storylines with different characters.
"You can also get too comfortable and I needed to feel the fear again. The producers were very accommodating of it. I tried to pitch my death but they weren’t having any of it."
