Coronation Street stars to be reunited with family in new ITV series

The cast of ‘Coronation Street’ are set to discover their real ancestral heritage as part of a new ITV series.
‘Six Degrees of Corrie’ is a new show presented by Nicky Campbell that will bear a striking similarity to Nicky and Davina McCall’s series ‘Long Lost Family’, as it unites members of the soap’s cast with some of their own long-lost relatives.
A source explained: "This is going to be a huge thrill for Corrie fans and anyone who is interested in family history.
"It’s an in-depth look into the lives of some of telly’s best-loved stars and some of the stories that come out of it wouldn’t look amiss in a soap opera."
The relatives will actually get to the meet the soap stars in the Rovers Return pub when the show airs in September.
And the programme promises to expose more of the ‘Coronation Street’ cast’s real-life selves than ever before.
The insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Viewers will get to see their shock and amazement at what the research produces.
"Though we’re used to seeing them acting, in this show all the emotions will be very real and never more so than when they meet their relatives."
The research team behind the show has taken DNA tests of the stars in order to trace their family heritage.
It’s not currently known which of the cast members will appear on the show, but it’s been reported that current and former ‘Coronation Street’ stars will make an appearance during the course of the series.
