Nick Grimshaw going back to school

Nick Grimshaw is going back to school.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ is keen to design sets for live shows and awards ceremonies and has been accepted onto a set-design course at London’s Central Saint Martins university and will start when he leaves his breakfast show job later this year.
He said: "There’s something about creating that atmosphere, that one-off moment.
"I just love the idea of creating something that people will remember. Because radio is quite throwaway. You put all the work in and then it’s gone and it’s next day, next day, next day."
The 33-year-old DJ has already made a start on his dream by working as an intern for Es Devlin, who has previously created sets for the likes of Kanye West, Adele, Beyonce and Jay-Z.
As well as leaving his morning show for a new afternoon slot on Radio 1 and enrolling in college, Nick is also open to more changes in his life and is ready to look for love.
He told the Sunday Times magazine: "I think I’ve grown up more. I feel less frantic and less frazzled…
"I think the reason I wanted a relationship before was so my friends would say, ‘Oh my God, he’s got a boyfriend — and he’s gorgeous!’ As a kind of self-validation.
"Whereas now I think I want someone to be nice to me and who can teach me things — I’m quite open to that. I always put my career, friends and social life first before. My attitude to boyfriends was: if you do not fit into my life then it’s not going to work. Whereas now I’d be prepared to make more effort."
But the former ‘X Factor’ judge isn’t keen on the idea of getting married and having a huge wedding.
He said: "I don’t think I’d get married. I think I’d just have a party, in my house, or at a local pub.
"I don’t know why people do those weddings where they get all stressed out and go to the gym for six months so they don’t look like they’ve ever looked and they eat food they don’t like. It’s weird."
Asked if he’d prefer to make a commitment to a life partner instead, he said: "Oh yes, I really would love to do that, knowing that you’ve found The One."
