Fleur East’s X Factor advice

Fleur East would like to see the audience get more involved in ‘The X Factor’.
The ‘Sax’ hitmaker thinks it would be good for the ITV talent show – on which she found fame – to borrow ideas from popular dating show ‘Love Island’.
She said: "I think getting the audience more involved. I think things like Love Island have done so well because its very interactive, people are doing more than just voting, and it’s using apps. So maybe there’s something like that can be implemented."
And Fleur is convinced there’s still a place for ‘The X Factor’ for the time being, despite dwindling ratings.
She added: "It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, first year X Factor, 15 million people watching the final’. And last year it was 7 million. Of course that’s TV as a whole, so it’s hard to judge it that way. There’s no other show like X Factor, besides ‘The Voice’ – but that’s only solo artists and a completely different concept. So until there’s something else like The X Factor that’s going to replace it, I still think there’s a place for it. We all still watch it, like in the lead-up to Christmas. It’s definitely part of British culture now, so I don’t really see it going anywhere if I’m honest."
And Fleur would love to see someone like Dua Lipa on the panel or former contestants like herself.
She told Digital Spy: "I always think that if they have an artist that is successful at the time, that always boosts ratings. If they had someone like a Dua Lipa, someone like that who’s doing really well right now and is relevant and of the time, I think that always works. Like when Cheryl first came on it and she was killing it and everyone was loving it and wanted to know what she had to say. I always think industry professionals, like someone who’s head of a label, or someone who’s known for signing big artists, that could be really cool. And also former contestants – hey, I’m here! No one knows it better than us!"
