Andrew Moss: Hollyoaks ‘ruined’ my character

Andrew Moss has hit out at ‘Hollyoaks’ for "ruining" his character, admitting he was "upset" about his exit.
The 33-year-old actor portrayed Rhys Ashworth in the Channel 4 soap from 2005 to 2012 when his alter-ego was killed off following the show’s big bus crash, but the star feels disappointed about the way Rhys met his maker, and has revealed he "fought" against the idea but to no avail.
When asked whether he regrets the door being closed on his character, he replied: "Well, I do now that Bryan Kirkwood is bringing back all the old characters.
"That actually wasn’t how my character should have gone out. The person in charge at the time was only there for a short period, and I feel we didn’t do the character justice – he deserved more after seven years on screen.
"They ruined the character towards the end and I did fight against it. I invested a lot in Rhys and went through such a roller coaster of storylines with him.
"So to have this character assassinated towards the end of a long stint was quite upsetting."
Despite his disappointment, Andrew will be "forever grateful" to the soap for his time on the show.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "I was a kid from Manchester who go to work on ‘Hollyoaks’ every day. It’s such an amazing place to work and learn the craft, and I’ll be forever grateful to the show for that.
"I had the best time there."
Since departing the soap, Andrew starred in ‘Doctors’ and alongside Sarah Harding in a production of ‘Ghost’, before landing his current role, in musical ‘Knights of the Rose’.
