Catherine Tyldesley to do Strictly Come Dancing?

Catherine Tyldesley wants to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 34-year-old actress recently departed ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ after having starred as Eva Price since 2011, and has revealed she would love to use her new time off to try her hand at ballroom dancing on the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition when the show returns to screens later this year.
She said: "I’ve started going to auditions and I’ve been put up for some really exciting jobs. I’d love to do a gritty drama, but I want to try as many genres as possible.
"I don’t watch much reality TV but the one show I do watch is ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I adore it. That’s the only one I would possibly do."
Catherine confirmed she was leaving ‘Corrie’ in December last year and celebrated her time on the programme with a a beach-themed leaving party at Manchester’s Impossible bar recently.
And whilst she is "excited" about the change of direction, she says her leaving bash and final scenes were "emotional".
Speaking to OK! Magazine, she said: "I’ve been there for seven years and I think the fact that my sisters [Jane Danson, who plays Eva’s half-sister Leanne Battersby, and Georgia Taylor, who plays Leanne’s stepsister Toyah] were with me for my last scene made it even more emotional.
"They’ve become my best friends. I’ve been with them for 12 hours a day and then all of a sudden I’m not going to be.
"Obviously we’re going to keep in touch, but it is a huge change for me, but it’s an exciting one."
In December, Catherine revealed she had been faced with a "difficult decision" when she chose to leave the show, but said she was looking forward to spending more time with her three-year-old son Alfie, and her husband of four years Tom Pitford.
She said: "Coronation Street has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave.
"Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again.
"In the meantime I’m excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family."
