Hunger Games wins big at MTV Movie Awards


The ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ won big at the MTV Movie Awards last night (13.04.14).

The sci-fi adventure film came out on top at the event, which was hosted by Conan O’Brien and held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, after walking away with three awards, including the coveted Movie of the Year prize, even beating Oscar-winning ’12 Years A Slave’.

Jennifer Lawrence – who plays Katniss Everdeen – was honoured with the Best Female Performance gong while her co-star Josh Hutcherson – who plays Peeta Mellark – was crowned with the Best Male Performance title.

Josh paid tribute to his late co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman in his acceptance speech.

He said: "It was so cool to have Philip in our movies. He’s one of the actors I’ve looked up to my entire life. I know if Philip were here he would think this was really cool."

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ bagged two awards after Leonardo DiCaprio won the #WTF moment and Jonah Hill was recognised for his Comedic Performance.

‘We’re the Millers’ also won two awards after Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter was honoured with the Best Kiss prize and Poulter was also recognised for his Breakthrough Performance.

Meanwhile, the late Paul Walker, who died last year, and his co-star Vin Diesel won the Best On-screen Duo award for their roles in the ‘Fast & Furious 6’.

Channing Tatum was given the MTV Trailblazer prize, while Mark Wahlberg accepted the MTV Generation Award with a foul-mouthed speech.

Best On-screen Duo:

Best Shirtless Performance:

Zac Efron – ‘That Awkward Moment’
