Lorraine Kelly feels like she’s had a ‘spring clean’

Lorraine Kelly feels like her head has had a "spring clean" since she started medication for menopause.
The 58-year-old television presenter has admitted she suffered badly with anxiety and depression when she went through the change – in which the levels of hormones dramatically drop – last year but she feels like a new woman since adding exercise to her daily routine and she started to take HRT tablets.
Speaking on today’s (20.06.18) breakfast show, Lorraine said: "We were talking last year about the menopause and how difficult that can be for everybody, I did get quite anxious… and it really helps with that. It’s like I’ve had a spring clean in my head. It’s like being re-set, it really is.
"It happens to everyone and I don’t think anybody should feel ashamed in any way. Sometimes I feel completely overwhelmed. I’m better now, I have got HRT and I swear by it, I know it’s not for everybody."
Lorraine also likes to walk "miles" with her puppy Angus because she thinks it’s "good for the soul."
She explained: "I walk miles with Angus and that’s good for the soul, it really is. I don’t know what it is about having a small dog. I’m talking about now and again feeling anxious, overwhelmed or a bit stressed but if you have a serious mental condition… exercise can actually help, even with very difficult mental health problems. You take control a little bit for you and that’s good."
And getting moving hasn’t just helped her mental health as she’s also dropped three dress sizes.
Lorraine said: "You can make that time. Just take that step. Just find something you love. Working out has helped me drop three dress sizes and changed my life in an important way."
