Tom Hollander cast in BBC series Baptiste

Tom Hollander has been cast in the BBC drama series ‘Baptiste’.
The 50-year-old actor is thrilled to have been added to the line-up of the Harry and Jack Williams-written programme – a spin-off of ‘The Missing’ – which is to start filming in later this summer.
Looking forward to his new role, Tom explained: "I am very excited to be working with Harry and Jack Williams. They are brilliant story tellers of nuance and suspense."
Harry and Jack – who also serve as executive producers on the programme – are delighted to have finally realised their ambition of working with the 50-year-old star, who previously appeared in ‘The Night Manager’ as Major Lance ‘Corky’ Corkoran.
They said: "We have wanted to work with Tom for some time and are so pleased he is going to play Edward in ‘Baptiste’.
"Tom’s huge range and formidable talent make him a wonderful addition to our cast."
Tom earned a Best Supporting Actor BAFTA for his starring role in ‘The Night Manager’, and previously admitted he was fortunate to have been handed such an interesting role.
Tom explained: "Villains are seldom as multidimensional as Corky.
"I’ve also played villains in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Hanna’, the Joe Wright thriller. They tend to be two-dimensional to give heroes a plot."
Tom has been acting since childhood, and he’s admitted that performing perfectly suits his "show off" nature.
He confessed: "I desperately wanted to act after doing ‘Oliver’ in a school production, aged 11, where the show-off in me and the chorister came together.
"I did a TV role while still at school – and the die was cast.
"I read English at Cambridge and did a lot of acting there. I was a pretty poor student but loved being around clever people – I felt dragged upwards."
