Bill Roache’s secret to feeling young

Bill Roache has revealed the mantra he repeats to himself every morning to help him feeling young and "rejuvenated".
The 86-year-old ‘Coronation Street’ legend – who has played Ken Barlow since the ITV soap’s first-ever episode in December 1960 – has revealed his regular ritual.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Friday (15.06.18), he said: "So each morning, when i get out of the shower, I say to myself, ‘As my cells renew themselves, they renew themselves with a younger, healthier, rejuvenating cell. Therefore, I’m getting younger, healthier and I’m rejuvenated.’ "
The veteran actor has penned a new book called ‘Life and Soul’, which delves into his secrets to feeling young at heart.
He added on the show that it is importance to find "balance", and even embracing "a little bit of what’s bad for you".
He explained: "It is about moderation and balance. I often say a little bit of what’s bad for you, is good for you – because the body needs to build up its immune system.
"But we all know what’s good for us, and we all know what’s bad for us. if you had a day eating all the bad things… just compensate a bit the next day. I think the key thing is that you enjoy yourself."
In his book – serialised in the Daily Mirror newspaper – he has also opened up about the loss of his former co-star and on-screen wife Anna Kirkbride.
He wrote: "She was unconscious, sedated with morphine, but she had a glow that seemed to come from within. I held her hand.
"I felt a tremor and hoped that was a sign she knew I was with her. I thanked her for everything. ‘Goodbye, Annie,’ I said. ‘You know you’re going to a beautiful place.’ "
