Jane Fonda didn’t think she’d make 80

Jane Fonda didn’t think she would live to 80.
The ‘Book Club’ actress has seen her career reignite since she came out of retirement in 2005 and she’s amazed at how much success she’s had since, including a hugely popular TV show in ‘Grace and Frankie’.
She said: "I just feel damn lucky. I retired for 15 years. I left at 50 and came back at 65.
"I was married to Ted Turner and Ted didn’t really help me with confidence and things like that. So after that I wanted to see if I could enjoy it again.
"But, at 65, I never thought I’d have a career. And a hit TV show! I’m 80! I keep pinching myself!
"I can’t believe it! I didn’t think I would live this long!"
Jane has spoken openly in the past about being a victim of sexual abuse and she feels "very grateful" to be around to see the work of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, though she thinks there is still more to be done.
She told Ireland’s Independent newspaper: "I am very grateful to be alive through this. I did not think I would live to see it. Yes. And I think that it’s going to continue, it’s not just a moment.
"I love the Time’s Up aspect of it. We’re working with women from all different places. I’m going to DC to lobby with domestic workers. The farm workers up in Bakersfield.
"It’s all of us together, having each other’s backs."
The ‘9 to 5’ actress has been married three times in the past and split from record producer Richard Perry last year, but she’s not interested in embarking on another relationship.
She said: "I love men, I’m not done with men, but I’m done with marriage and dating."
These days, Jane lives in a house within a gated retirement compound, which boasts a community centre with a pool and tennis courts and though she never expected to dwell in such a facility, she adores her life there.
She said: "I always see one or two other residents who seem infinitely older than I am, but they probably aren’t. I never thought I would ever live there, but it’s great."
