Sylvester McCoy joins Holby City

Sylvester McCoy is set to star opposite his ‘Doctor Who’ successor Paul McGann in ‘Holby City’.
The 74-year-old actor played the seventh incarnation of the Time Lord in the hugely popular sci-fi series, and he will share the screen with the man who followed him in the role.
McCoy will appear as a patient in the hospital drama – which already stars McGann, 58, as neurosurgeon John Gaskell – and it’s said the pair will share a scene, in a move that will delight fans of ‘Doctor Who’.
An insider told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: "These are likely to be images which will whip Whovians into a frenzy – seeing two consecutive Time Lords performing together in the same drama.
"But it’s also likely to trigger some nostalgic memories for anyone for whom the 80s and 90s were their formative years."
Sylvester was the seventh actor to play the Time Lord – taking over from Colin Baker in 1987 – and he starred in the show until it was shelved by the BBC just two years later.
He reprised the role in 1996 for a one-off episode, which saw the character regenerate as Paul became the eighth incarnation, although his time on the show was short lived as Christopher Eccleston joined for the reboot in 2005.
Their scenes together in ‘Holby City’ will see Sylvester play a patient who was injured after running away from his retirement home.
The episode is expected to air this autumn, around the time the new series of ‘Doctor Who’ makes a comeback with Jodie Whittaker at the helm of the TARDIS.
