Chris Hughes wants to join Coronation Street

Chris Hughes wants to join ‘Coronation Street’.
The ‘Love Island’ hunk is desperate to join the long-running soap and is hoping his friend Colson Smith – who plays trainee police officer Craig Tinker in the show – will bag him a part.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Chris said: "It actually is a dream of mine to be an actor. I’d love to chance my arm at acting.
"I feel like I’ve gained a lot of experience in front of the camera already. I wouldn’t mind being on ‘Coronation Street’, I watch it religiously, my mum is a big ‘Corrie’ fan as well. It’s a powerful soap. The only problem is that I haven’t quite got that northern accent.
"I’m actually good friends with Colson Smith, who plays Craig, I keep in touch with him and he came and watched me in the boat race for Sport Relief that I did up in Manchester.
"I’ve also met Lucy Fallon who plays Bethany Platt. I’m friends with a few people on it now, I met quite a lot of them at the National Television Awards."
Chris – who is single again following his split from Olivia Attwood, whom he met and fell in love with on ‘Love Island’ – wouldn’t want to enter Weatherfield as a villain though, because he thinks he’s too nice to be able to pull it off.
He said: "I wouldn’t like to be a villain, that’s because I’m just not really a villain; I’m just too nice for that. They need some new characters; I could freshen up the cobbles!"
