Jeremy McConnell is reportedly fighting for joint custody of his son.
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star reportedly started legal proceedings last month as he believes he’s finally got his life back on track after he spent a month behind bars last year for beating his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Davis – the mother of his child – and is now keen to help her raise their 16-month-old son Caben.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: "Jeremy has worked hard the last few months to get his life back on track.
"He always made it clear that he didn’t want to start this process until he was in a good place and now he feels like he’s in a stable position.
"It is an extremely complicated situation given his history with Stephanie but everyone’s hoping that in time he can start to be included in Caben’s life."
This isn’t the first time the 28-year-old star has expressed his desire to see his son.
He said recently: "The incident happened, I went to court, the restraining order was put in place – I can go through the correct channels to see my son. I want to just move forward now and see my son. I miss and love him – I love him to bits."
However, news that he’s trying to seek joint custody of their little boy will no doubt infuriate Stephanie – who has been raising him alone since he was born – as she hit out at Jeremy in January when he tried to wish Caben a happy birth on social media.
She said: "You are no role model to your son so don’t act like you give a damn. As if you did you would have been there in his life – not partying and being a total disgrace. No Christmas or birthday present LET ALONE A CARD so drop the act."
Jeremy was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison and 200 hours of community service at the end of last year after he was found guilty of assaulting Stephanie in March 2017.
He’s also been banned from contacting the 25-year-old actress, her relatives and Caben for three years – unless the restraining order is lifted by the family courts.
