Still Open All Hours to return for 5th series

‘Still Open All Hours’ will return for a fifth series.
The BBC have confirmed the next instalment of the popular revival of legendary sitcom ‘Open All Hours’ will be filmed and recorded over the summer, and Sir David Jason cannot wait to reprise his role as shopkeeper Granville.
He said: "I’m thrilled to be bringing Granville and Arkwright’s shop back to viewers’ TV screens along with his regular customers who bring their own sense of barminess to the world of grocery."
James Baxter will return as Granville’s son Leroy, while Stephanie Cole is back as Delphine Featherstone and Maggie Ollerenshaw will play Mavis once again.
Brigit Forsyth (Madge), Tim Healy (Gastric), Johnny Vegas (Eric Agnew), Kulvinder Ghir (Cyril), Sally Lindsay (Kath Agnew), Geoffrey Whitehead (Wilburn Newbold) and Katie Redford (Bet) will also reprise their roles in the programme.
Roy Clarke, who wrote the original ‘Open All Hours’ – which starred the late, great Ronnie Barker as shopkeeper Arkwright and aired for four series from 1973 to 1985 – will return to write the fifth instalment of ‘Still Open All Hours’.
The series will kick off with Granville trying to sell a large quantity of bargain glasses, and Wilburn will final reveal how he feels about Delphine.
Gregor Sharp, the BBC’s commissioning editor, said: "We’re delighted to see Granville flip over the sign on Arkwright’s and open up for another series of ‘Still Open All Hours’ – it’s enduring popularity is a testament to the brilliance of Roy Clarke’s scripts and the impeccable performances of a cast of comic legends at the height of their powers."
Gareth Edwards, executive producer, added: "With a cast of national comic treasures and a great new set of scripts it’s a pleasure to be paying another visit to Britain’s daftest corner shop."
