Tom Brady’s tough family balance

Tom Brady’s wife and kids are getting the "short end of the stick" in his life.
The American football star admits family life with his wife Gisele Bündchen and their two children – Vivian, five, and Benjamin, eight – is taking a back seat as he is so focused on his career.
Speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference, Tom – who also has John, 10, from a previous relationship – shared: "Part of this offseason for me is certainly about still preparing for what’s ahead in my next journey, my next mountain to climb with this group of teammates, but it’s also [acknowledging] that a lot of people are getting the short end of the stick in my life – certainly my wife and my kids. Football is year-round for me. It’s a lot of thought, a lot of energy and emotion put into it, but I need to invest in them, too. My kids are 10, 8 and 5. They’re not getting younger, so I need to take time so I can be available to them, too."
Meanwhile, Tom previously insisted that his family will play a "big part" in his decision to retire as he knows there is "collateral effects to every decision that he makes".
Speaking in his recent Tom vs. Time documentary, he said: "You can’t make decisions necessarily just for yourself, and I think that’s one thing I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older: There is collateral effects to every decision that I make. I have a wife [Gisele Bundchen] that aspires to be a lot of things, and she travels a lot. My oldest son lives here in New York. Three kids, and you’re just always trying to juggle and you want to be there for them, and you want to be there for the hockey games and the soccer games. But you also realise the level of commitment it takes to give as much as you can to the team that needs you."
