Gok Wan: Work will kill me

Gok Wan is expecting to die of exhaustion.
The ‘How to Look Good Naked’ presenter believes work will be the death of him one day and insists he couldn’t live without working because it "defines" him and "fills a void" in his life.
He said: "I love work. Work is one of my biggest enemies. I have such an addictive and obsessive personality that if I’m enjoying then I want to enjoy all of it.
"Work has always been a difficult one as if I am being really honest I know work will be the thing that kills me. I push myself constantly.
"The sense of joy and the exhaustion I get from it [work] is the best drug in the entire world as far as I’m concerned. I refuse to give up that addiction.
"You could take shopping, coffee, cigarettes away from me. Fine I will get on with that.
"But I don’t think you could take work away from me. It does define me, and it is filling a void.
"Work is probably the reason why I am going to die out of exhaustion. But in a weird way it’s a solution for so many other parts of my personality."
The 43-year-old TV presenter insists he works so much he "doesn’t have time" for a relationship, which "justifies" why he is single.
Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s ‘Happy Place’ podcast, he added: "The reason I’ve got those addictions is whilst I’m working and I’m good at something, I feel needed – that goes back to being a kid and being bullied.
"Whilst I’m working and I’m achieving I haven’t got time to worry about the other stuff, that goes back to the anorexia.
"Whilst I am working I am exhausted, I don’t have time to have a relationship, which justifies why I am single and justifies the way I think I look and how unattractive and all that stuff."
