Brendan Sheerin keen for Corrie role

Brendan Sheerin has set his sights on landing a role in ‘Coronation Street’.
The ‘Coach Trip’ star is hoping incoming ‘Corrie’ producer Iain MacLeod – who will take over the role in June – will cast him in the ITV soap, and he is keen to bring a piece of the popular reality TV show to the cobbles.
He said: "I’d love to appear on ‘Coronation Street’, who wouldn’t?
"I’d like to have ordered a hot pot but Betty’s not there anymore.
"The coach could break down outside the Rovers and I could bring them all in for a drink."
Brendan has even saved the ‘Corrie’ scriptwriters a job by working out his own storyline, whereby Weatherfield mechanic Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) could get to work on the ‘Coach Trip’ vehicle after the motor breaks down on the cobbles.
He added to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: "We could get Kevin the mechanic to fix the coach.
"I’ve got it all worked out. The accent is already there."
Brendan is not the only TV star to have recently issued a come-and-get-me plea to a soap.
Last week, Vanessa Feltz admitted she would love to appear in ‘EastEnders’, questioning why there aren’t more Jewish characters in the BBC One show.
She said: "Why don’t ‘EastEnders’ have more roles for middle-class, Jewish grandmas of 56?
"They need one and I’d love to do it."
What’s more, ‘Peep Show’ legend Isy Suttie – who played Dobby in the sitcom – would love to appear in Albert Square as a killer knitter.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I don’t think I’m really in ‘EastEnders’ casting directors’ minds, but maybe if I have a word with Himesh I could be.
"My character could be a killer knitter and she could knit something to cover her tracks, that’s a good idea.
"I will write it. If the part gets made then nobody else can play my part, it can’t be someone from ‘Downton Abbey’, it’s got to be me."
