Avicii has died

Avicii has died at the age of 28.
The Swedish-born DJ – whose real name was Tim Bergling – has passed away at the tragically young age of 28, his publicist confirmed in a statement on Friday (20.04.18)
The statement read: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."
Avicii was best known for smash hit singles including ‘Hey Brother’ and ‘Wake Me Up’, and had been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording twice, once in 2012 for ‘Sunshine’ – which was recorded with David Guetta – and again the following year for ‘Levels’.
As of the time of writing, his cause of death has not been made public.
The tragic news comes after the star made the decision to retire from live performances in 2016 due to heath problems, which he had suffered with for many years.
Avicii battled with acute pancreatitis – which is a potentially life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas – due in part to excessive drinking, and had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014.
Last year, the musician posted a statement on his website in which he said creating music is what he "lives" for.
He wrote: "WE ALL REACH A POINT IN OUR LIVES AND CAREERS WHERE WE UNDERSTAND WHAT MATTERS THE MOST TO US.
"For me it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do.
"Last year I quit performing live, and many of you thought that was it. But the end of live never meant the end of Avicii or my music. Instead, I went back to the place where it all made sense – the studio.
"The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new.
"Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. (sic)"
