Paul Hollywood: City Bakes gets the axe

‘Paul Hollywood: City Bakes’ has reportedly been axed.
The 52-year-old celebrity chef’s cooking show, which saw him travel the globe and hunt down family-run bakeries, corner delis and other eating establishments to try out their homemade recipes, has been given the chop by Food Network bosses after just two series on screen.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper that there are "no current plans" to air a third series.
The decision not to commission another series will come as yet another blow to Paul as it’s also been claimed his car show ‘The Big Continental Road Trip’ has been stalled by the BBC.
The culinary genius fronted the motoring programme, which saw him travel around Europe with his celebrity friends, last summer but the broadcaster has decided no to give the go-ahead for another instalment after he decided to move across to Channel 4 with ‘Great British Bake Off’.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "The initial show was commissioned and signed off before the whole ‘Bake Off’ debacle. But that meant the writing was on the wall for ‘Road Trip’.
"The BBC were really keen on the idea of Paul fronting the show when he first did the deal. Cars are his first love so it was a good fit. But once the ‘Bake Off’ row took place there was no way they were going to let a second series happen."
Paul came under fire last year when he became the only member of the original ‘GBBO’ line-up to follow the show to Channel 4 when they bought the rights to the cooking series in 2016.
The silver fox bagged himself a £1.2 million deal on the programme, whereas his former co-stars Mary Berry, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins decided to quit out of "loyalty" to the BBC.
The source explained: "The BBC were very angry that he followed the dough to Channel 4 rather than stepping away like Mel, Sue and Mary did."
